My current A level students have just started studying the Aeneid. As always, I showed them this as a summary of scholarly debates about the relative merits of Homer and Virgil.
Getting to pick Martial for #Classicstober reminded me why I so love him. He is fabulous material, hence my heavily index stickered copy of The Epigrams.

My contribution to "National Punctuation Day": the third role that the apostrophe legitimately plays (after marking possession and loss of letters) is the disambiguation of plural acronyms written in capitals. (It is not the "grocer's apostrophe!)

"In conclusion, the use of LLMs/AI for writing is not only a symptom of our society's intellectual decline but also a testament to our collective laziness. It is a shameful act that betrays our lack of faith in ourselves and our unwillingness to put in the hard work required to produce something truly exceptional. Rather than celebrating these tools as some sort of revolutionary breakthrough, we should be ashamed of our own shortcomings and resolve to rediscover the beauty of human creativity."
