@ContrarianOwl@Serenitee_Sam I imagine the officer would argue exigence. But I also imagine since the fire was contained and being actively tended to maybe that’s not sufficient grounds to invade his property.
I dunno
Definitely side with the old man. 100%.
He stood on principle. You can nit pick about this and that, but that’s mostly just noise. I don’t think the officer did anything to de-escalate. He was just being stubborn at being challenged. Officers probably don’t have to deal with a citizen that won’t take their shit, so they don’t really have a good philosophy on their role.
It was a fire… so you can say well the old man should have backed down and bowed to the officer, but why does that not apply to the officer?
Hear me out. If it was not that important as the officers kept saying, then why couldn’t the officer just left and mailed him a ticket? He observed a fire… that’s all the evidence they need.
This altercation is just a pure manifestation of FAFO. And she Found out… Nothing special here…
I see no one talking about how he didn’t continue once she was down… I see plenty of videos where the “bad” guy keeps attacking… Clearly self-defense, and just enough self defense.
@skillz17q Listening to the same argument over and over.
Statutes require interpretation. It isn’t always as simple as I read it and I see it this way.
I wonder what a judge would rule on this dispute.
There is nothing wrong with having a high caution with dogs. They can do real damage.
Certain breeds will naturally be more trustworthy. German Shepherds have a good reputation for looking after kids and being protective. Even some GSD have temperaments not suitable for children around though.
I’m probably biased since GSD are the best dog ever, but I’d never let my little ones around pits or rotwilers, maybe a few other breeds.
Above all is the dog individually needs to be proven to be trustworthy on a case by case basis.
Even my dogs might not behave the same towards a strangers kids vs my kids.
