🙇 Why do we grow #Lawns instead of growing #Food in all of that space? The lawn has roots in European aristocratic traditions, primarily in England. We say ditch the water-wasting #Monocrop, & nurture a landscape w/ purpose & intention, that gives back to us and our communities.
🌱 #GrowingFood instead of a lawn means #Sustainability, fresh produce at your fingertips, and a vibrant #Ecosystem right outside your door. Let's cultivate a greener, more #Mindful way of living! So much is possible even with a small working space. 💚 #urbanfarming#urbanag
These pictures were taken exactly one year ago at East End Market of the gorgeous #Nasturtiums that pop up each year.
Not only distinctly tasty, the plants are also a reputable companion plant in the home garden or urban farm, and are useful for deterring pests. 🌼
Up close and personal with some of our recent favorites from the market—carrots, Okinawan purple sweet potatoes, purple top turnips, and the vibrant stems of bundles of Swiss chard.
If you're looking for a landscape that's inspired & inviting (to you + your local fauna)—that shows your love for the planet, & blends beauty + function, then allow our Edible Landscapes team to make the yard of your dreams come true. Consults are free! https://t.co/cIT0Vu8SnC
#HappyMonday Fleet Fam! 🫶 We're setting our intentions for a wonderful week ahead, and we hope you're doing the same. Remember that similarly to seeds, people often flourish most profoundly after we've been buried, and experienced the depth of life's challenges and setbacks.
It feels like just yesterday we were complaining about the heat 🙃 On the bright side, dropping temps mean it's prime time for #EdibleGardening! So many edible plants thrive in this cooler weather, like root veg & leafy greens. Here's what we ❤️ to plant this time of year. 🥕🧅🥬

Turnips are one of our faves—fun and easy to grow, and delicious and hearty, including the leaves. For anyone who isn't sold yet on this wonderful root (technically a hypocotyl) vegetable—try them mashed like potatoes, lightly pan-seared, or shredded into salad or slaw.🌱💪
Thanks to everyone who showed up & showed OUT at our first #GardenDay at #UCF reinvigorating the #FleetFarm outside of the Student Union! Even our froggy friends were impressed 🐸💚🌱 Want to get involved? Come out to our next #garden day Thurs., Oct. 19 @ the Student Union beds!
Next month, we'll be bringing back one of our most anticipated Living Learning classes from last year—how to grow garlic (in a subtropical climate)! 🧄 💥
