Next Monday at work, our supervisor calls me in. Says "You good? Heard you and your wife split and you're homeless. Just want to make sure you're mentally okay to operate the forklift. We can't have distractions on the floor."
I froze.
Then I go to break and two other dudes look at me weird. One goes "Damn, sorry about your divorce man."
We weren't even divorced. We were just arguing.
By lunch, the whole warehouse knew my business. Guys I barely talked to were coming up like "stay strong bro."
Marcus turned my lowest moment into break room gossip to make himself seem more plugged in.
The worst part? My boss took me off overtime that week. Said I needed to "handle things at home." That overtime was how I was paying my brother rent.
I never confronted Marcus. I just stopped talking. Head down, work, go home.
I got a new job two months later making more money, better hours. Never told a single coworker a damn thing about my life.
I saw Marcus at a gas station last month. He said "Man we miss you over there."
Nah. Y'all don't miss me. Y'all miss having someone's business to talk about.
HELLOOOOO

Some of y’all are loud with “I love Mexico” and “I love being Mexican,” but somehow get real quiet when our people are being separated, mistreated, and families are being torn apart.
Mexico’s fight for independence is the triumph of a people determined to shape their own future.
Today, I was proud to be the first New York City Mayor to march in Sunset Park’s Mexican Independence Day Parade alongside a community that has fostered cultural pride across generations.
Mexican New Yorkers are at the heart of our city and its fight for a better future.
