“My taxes pay for your training”
A frequent comment I keep seeing, especially with strikes.
We already knew, but here it is from the Medical Schools Council themselves that the tariff isn’t invested into students training!
Yet more money disappearing into a hole…
🔴NEW: NHS England orders hospitals to stop using physician associates to cover doctors’ shifts after @Telegraph investigation reveals that the practice is widespread.

Remember when Senior Doctors were forced to write a letter of apology to a murderous nurse?
The apology was for raising concerns, twisted to fit a bullying narrative.
Do not fall for the bullying narrative again; it’s so popular because it’s the only weapon against the truth
@LBIAirport When are you going to allow passengers who’ve had their flights cancelled to leave the gate they’ve been stuck at for >2 hours? Your staff present have done nothing but provide rude responses, refusing to give any info at all on why they aren’t allowed to leave/when they can
@LBIAirport my other half’s flight was cancelled at 3pm but your staff have locked them in at the gate and are refusing to provide any answers on when they are likely to be allowed out/why other than ‘we’ve been here since 5am mate’. Horrendous customer service?!
The Evangelical church in Jerusalem has announced that it received 3 phone warnings from the Israeli Occupation Forces that they would strike the Baptist Hospital before they did it.
Stop lying about killing people.
Trauma surgeon treating bomb injuries in Gaza, in hospital for last 7 days, finally went home & was killed by Israeli airstrike alongside 30 of his family members. I encourage all healthcare workers worldwide to honor his name.
Dr Midhat Saidam. Killed in the line of duty.
The scenes of hundreds killed at the Al-Ahli Arabi Baptist hospital in Gaza are absolutely devastating and cannot be justified.
International law must be upheld.
Hospitals and civilian lives must be protected.
*bangs head against wall*
HOW MANY TIMES do we have to have this conversation?! Increasing med school places will do NOTHING when every training programme is oversubscribed - focus on training and retaining the doctors you already have!!!
Makes for bleak reading - this is the competition that trained and qualified doctors face just to continue with their training - without this, they can't become the experts of tomorrow. Only 1 in 2.67 doctors can train as a GP even if they want to, during an ongoing crisis!
The reason trusts act like this towards doctors is because they rotate. If you rotate you don’t deserve to have your basic needs met. These amenities are only for permanent staff.
At least, that’s the case at @LivHospitals
Surely there’s an easier solution here @jamessumnerNHS
Tory MPs got a £2,400+ pay rise this week. A 42% payrise since 2010.
Last year MPs sat in Parliament for 152 days.
Tory MPs are in no position to lecture doctors about pay or workplace responsibilities.
Back the doctors, they are the bedrock of the NHS.
Doctors don’t get subsidised food; they don’t get free parking; they don’t get free energy or free travel
Tory MPs get the lot- free parking; free travel; free energy; subsidised food & £2,400 pay rises.
Support doctors please. We need them. They are striking to save the NHS.
Can we stop calling 45hr a week, that is mandatory and frequently out of social hours, “full time”. It’s not? Medics out here burned out and applying for LTFT to be 40hr a week. Ffs.
We intubate your kids. We operate on your cancers. We treat you for your heart attacks, strokes & life threatening conditions.
I get paid £19/h as a 4th year doctor to take care of you when you can't. You can start paying us what we deserve. And stop bullshitting.
Thanks.
Student loans are hilarious. I’m a doctor, therefore amongst the most reliably employed, reasonably well earning graduates. I’ve been paying my loan every month for 6 years, I currently have >5k more debt than I graduated with (now nearly 70k)
Today my bf text me saying he attended a bleep to cannulate a pt to find an f1 cannulating the brachial artery, told the f1 on-call here about it and we discussed how you can tell…I’ve just walked onto the ward to a stressed looking f1 ‘Faye guess what I’ve done’ #medicaljinxes
