@MichaelEMann Michael, how does an El Niño year translate to storminess in southern hemisphere - Pacific? Specifically, can we (Hawaii) expect large swell next summer?
We should all be furious that as a summer of climate fueled event wreaks havok on our planet more isn't being done to stem the tide.
Record heatwaves, record floods, record droughts, record wildfires. How many more records before we #ActOnClimate?

@kamanabeamer The impacts of the climate emergency are made worse by a deep history of imperialism that separated land from Indigenous and local communities, an extractive economic system, and suppression of female autonomy leading to surging population.
China leads in electricity from wind & solar & may double capacity by 2025, 5yrs early. Britain, ~1/3 of electricity is generated by wind, solar and hydropower. US, 23% of electricity is expected from renewable sources this year, up 10% from a decade ago. https://t.co/qzpeUYJAM1
It's not sulphate aerosols.
It's not the Tonga eruption.
It's not unicorns or fairy dust.
It's human-caused warming from carbon pollution (plus a sizeable natural swing from La Nina-to-El Nino)

@hausfath@gcarbonproject Thank you for the thread. Enlightening. While I may be skeptical of emissions data, I do find optimism in IEA (&others) reports that clean energy investments are rising rapidly (but still insufficient for 1.5C). We may look back on the middle of this decade as a turning point.
@hausfath “…everything becomes a bit of a fantasy,” Philippe Ciais, scientist w/ France’s Laboratory of Climate&Environmental Sciences who tracks emissions based on satellite data. “….between the world of reporting and the real world of emissions, you start to have large discrepancies.”
Some similar had been proposed to the state legislature in Hawaii, but the committee head said “we’re not ready for managed retreat… we need to get our feet wet first.” https://t.co/GcNB9Svowh
Republicans want to control what clothes you wear, what books you read, what history you learn, what medication you can take, what words you can say, what gender you are, who you can love or marry, and what you can or cannot do with your own body but when it comes to controlling gun violence… they say there’s “nothing they can do about it”???
Are you fucking kidding me?
