From an article on Trump’s 747 Sky Palace, Emoluments One:
“Mr. Trump pushed for the new plane to be put into use as quickly as possible and frequently complained that the old presidential aircraft was not impressive enough to take on international trips. . . ‘Trump’s own statements — including his celebration of ‘a level of luxury that nobody’s ever seen before’ — make it clear that these decisions prioritized Trump’s personal comfort and tastes over U.S. national security.’”
________
400 million taxpayer dollars to upgrade the 400 million dollar Qatari 747 Sky Palace and 320 million taxpayer dollars on a hanger to house it, to provide Trump a level of ostentatious opulence befitting a king, and it’s not up to security standards for international travel? And he’s keeping it when he leaves office in 30 months. Pretty sweet deal for a man who banked 2.2 billion dollars while working 24/7 for ordinary Americans!
Trump had to show off his new toy, so he flew it to Turkey to impress his peers. And then they had to send one of the shabby old 747s to bring him back home. It costs $1,800 a minute to operate Air Force One. Round trip from DC to Ankara is about 25 hours of flying time, so that’s 4.5 million taxpayer dollars down the drain, all for the sake of vanity.
Meanwhile, Western North Carolina is still struggling to recover from Hurricane Helene, millions of Americans lost their healthcare coverage, and inflation caused by needless war and stupid tariffs make it hard for many to keep their heads above water. Affordability isn’t a hoax, it’s a reality.
How about working class Americans getting a fair shake for a change? We’ve got to put an end to the oligarchy!
Mitch McConnell has been hospitalized and out of public view since mid-June, with zero transparency from his office. Is he alive? Brain dead? Recovering?
Yet DC reporters can’t be bothered to demand real answers or even basic updates.
The media’s selective silence is deafening.
Edward Norton refused to be credited for his role as King Baldwin IV in Kingdom of Heaven (2005).
Since the character wears a silver mask due to leprosy, Norton believed keeping his name off the posters and opening credits would preserve the king’s mystique.
BREAKING: In a shocking move, the Ohio Teamsters just endorsed Sherrod Brown for Senate. This comes after they endorsed a Republican for Governor. Let’s go.
Trump is trying to resurrect a rejected century old plan to erect something towering in his own image, a 250 foot arch, right at the gateway to Arlington National Cemetery.
He claims Congress authorized it a century ago. That claim falls apart the moment you check the record.
What Congress actually approved in 1925 was a bridge and two 166 foot columns. Not an arch.
The columns were never built. President Hoover scratched them from the plans in 1931 after the Commerce Department warned they could endanger aircraft. That is the “vision” Trump is citing. A design that was rejected almost 95 years ago.
Arlington is sacred ground, and no president should be allowed to wall it off with a monument to himself that Congress never approved.

Tomorrow I start driving my wheelchair 125 miles to the Wisconsin state capital to sound the alarm about the federal government waging war on Medicaid.

BREAKING: Senators Elissa Slotkin and Tammy Baldwin have introduced the Protect the Polls Act to ensure ICE is unable to interfere with November's midterms elections. This needs to be passed immediately.
MSNOW: This was a landmark housing bill. Trump refusing to sign it is going to reflect poorly on Republicans. I was talking to a Senate GOP aide who told me, "Never in my lifetime have I seen a president so deliberately attempt to lose majorities for his own party."
🚨BREAKING: Mitch McConnell’s health update takes a bizarre turn after a neighbor says the ambulance that responded had “no urgency” as Mitch’s lifeless feet were not covered by a blanket.
McConnell had been in the hospital for over a month. This is now a coverup.
#BREAKING: Psaki: “Multiple outlets are reporting tonight that Donald Trump has essentially wiped out what is left of the US Election Assistance Commission that is a bipartisan commission that helps states and local officials run elections. They certify election equipment, they distribute federal election funds, they maintain the national mail voter registration form, they basically do a whole bunch of things that help elections across the country run smoothly. But as we have seen through his actions over and over and over again, Donald Trump does not want elections in this country to run smoothly, quite the opposite.”🤦♀️
#BREAKING: Lawrence: “…here is what the most incoherent person who has ever attended a NATO summit with a speaking part said today about his deranged obsession with Greenland: [Trump: ‘…Greenland…should be controlled by the United States, not by Denmark, and when they wouldn’t go along with it, and with all the money we spend to help them with Russia, and we don’t have to spend any money, we could remove all of our soldiers out of Europe because as you probably noticed, Europe’s a very different place than it was 20 years ago, a lot different, much different…and they better be careful with immigration and energy. If they’re not careful with those two things, you’re not gonna have a Europe anymore’]. You’re not going to have a Europe anymore. That’s what Donald Trump told Europe Today. Needless to say, and I really do mean needless to say, Europe will still be Europe, LONG after Donald Trump is gone. This is the person who every Republican Senator and every Republican member of the House of Representatives supported in the last presidential election. That’s who they wanted to be president, that’s who they wanted at NATO summits, the breathtakingly stupid guy, stupid enough to say you’re not going to have a Europe anymore.”😳😂
MacFarlane: Welcome back to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which has retained its very swampy, green-like color. It’s still fenced off. It’s still inaccessible. It’s still not in its best shape. It is reflecting again, but it’s almost like it’s quarantined in its green-like state.
Reports that the White House has dismissed the remaining members of the Election Assistance Commission — all of whom were unanimously confirmed by the Senate, including a commissioner appointed by President Trump himself — should concern every American, regardless of party, because the EAC was established by Congress as an independent, bipartisan body to help states administer secure and credible elections.
If these reports are accurate, removing every remaining commissioner just months before the 2026 midterm elections is an extraordinary step that demands an immediate explanation from the administration and raises profound concerns about political interference in the institutions that support our elections.
I have no idea what the law says, but Governor Beshear should just call the special election anyway and force Republicans to show some proof of life for McConnell. That’s what they would do in the same situation.
