“If it’s a fear that requires me to put something really big on the line, then I'll just put it on the line and face that fear head-on.”

The ending is still far away.

GQ: When was the last time you cried?
WS: Wow... when was it? Hold on. (Four seconds passed.) Ah, I cried a little while filming the drama. While acting in a scene. I think that's the last time I cried.

GQ: The drama you’re filming now? Solo Leveling?
WS: Yes. It was because the emotions I had to express in that scene were like that.

GQ: It’s a fantasy genre packed with action. I thought there might also be physically tear-inducing factors, like sore muscles or your body not doing what you want it to, but it turns out you cried because of the scene itself.
WS: Thankfully, it wasn’t because of muscle soreness. (Laughs.) Action is fun. Of course, just because it’s an action genre doesn’t mean it’s all about action, you also have to express the character’s emotions, so that part is difficult. But that's also what makes it fun. So I’m filming while enjoying it in a slightly different way.

GQ: It’s a relief to hear you're enjoying it.
WS: I know, right? I was surprised too. “Action is so much fun.”

GQ: Today we’re going to talk about Byeon Wooseok’s tears.
WS: Hahahahahaha.

GQ: Why are you squeezing your eyes shut?
WS: No, it’s just... tears... hehe.

GQ: Eight years ago, Byeon Wooseok described himself as someone who cries easily.
WS: I said that? That I cry easily?

GQ: You said you cry when you watch movies, you cry when you watch dramas, and you cry when you’re sad in everyday life.
WS: That’s true. (Laughs.)

GQ: What about Byeon Wooseok now? Do you still cry easily?
WS: Um... ah... these days I haven’t been able to watch many dramas or movies. Since work has become busier, it’s been a little difficult to have time for myself. When I watch dramas or movies, I get deeply immersed in them, and I end up using a lot of emotional energy too. So recently I haven’t been able to watch much. I actually really love watching them.
