@ClwydEnComu A declining population is not good, but most people would prefer that than see places in Wales undergo rapid demographic transformation to the point they become unrecognisable, as has happened in so many parts of England such as Bradford and Dewsbury.
@YoungmanMj@TwmbarlwmSam@JacCymro1400 It is a lot better than it used to be. Ten years ago I remember being on that route and believe it or not the bus door was being tied shut with a rope! There's talk of TfW introducing a faster service that bypasses Lampeter so things may be looking up.
@YoungmanMj@TwmbarlwmSam@JacCymro1400 True, but it takes 2hr 10 mins by bus when it only takes 1hr 25 mins by car. And when I've taken it I've almost always always ended up missing my onward train connection to Cardiff as the bus is late!
@Joe___Allen April McMahon presided over a catastrophic fall to the very bottom of the league tables for Aberystwyth University and a mass staff exodus during her brief but disastrous reign as VC. Yet as she left, in disgrace, she got a ยฃ100k golden handshake!
@ReahlyO@tompainebones I don't have time to do a full background check on every random tweet I see. But when I saw you post something idiotic about Welsh mythology I decided to set the record straight. Clearly I'm talking to a brick wall though.
@ReahlyO@tompainebones The idea that these stories are about instilling hatred of the English into children is so hilariously removed from reality that it's hard to know where to begin. Why don't you go and spend 20 minutes reading about the Mabinogi on Wikipedia?
@ReahlyO@tompainebones When people talk about Welsh mythology, they're not necessarily referring to King Arthur anyway. They're talking about tales such as Culhwch ac Olwen or the story of Branwen, featuring the giant Bendigeidfran. The Saxons feature here and there but are mostly not the focus.
@ReahlyO@tompainebones You are being completely irrational. You're associating mythology with a set of political ideas that you disagree with, even though they have nothing to do with each other. Welsh mythology is a collection of ancient folk tales involving giants and magic and stuff like that.
@ReahlyO@tompainebones The original tweet is talking about teaching mythology in schools, which is a totally normal thing to do in most countries. No mention of porn. I think your beef is with someone else.
@nathanwinder5@tompainebones The fact that they were selling to "incomers" surely proves my point that there did not exist a blanket hatred of anyone who was not local.
@nathanwinder5@tompainebones Secondly they would have to sell the homes at market rate, even if prices were sky high, because the price of seller's next home would also be inflated, unless the seller were moving completely out of area to a place with cheap housing.
@nathanwinder5@tompainebones They were burning holiday homes, including ones that were owned by Welsh people, because they were screwing up the local housing market. Not a tactic I would use or approve of to deal with the situation, but it was not about simply hating English people or "incomers".
