The Kenya Association of Muslim Medical Professionals (KAMMP) was registered in 1998, as an organization comprising over 2,000 active members from different fields and cadres of Healthcare Professionals who profess the Muslim faith, coming together with a common vision promoting unity and welfare of Muslim Medical Professionals and to foster positive change in Kenya’s health landscape. KAMMP is a member of the Federation of Islamic Medical Association (FIMA) which works in close liaison with the UN and WHO. Its manpower is derived from volunteering by its members to provide services to the community as well as the humanity at large.

The Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA) is an umbrella society formed in 1981 and incorporated in the USA from 1082 as a not-for-profit NGO bringing together all national Islamic medical associations from across the world currently with a growing constituent and associate membership from over 53 countries.

The highlight of the conference programme was the Opening Ceremony Panel titled “Collaborative Strategies for Sustainable Healthcare Development: Bridging Global, National, and Local Efforts" at a session moderated by KAMMP Secretary General Dr. Abdallah Bajaber

The panelists included:
◾️ Dr. Ahmed Ogwell the Founding KAMMP Secretary General and currently serving as Vice President of Global Health Strategies at UN Foundation
◽️ Dr. Zeinab Gura the Deputy Director General, Ministry of Health @MOH_Kenya
◾️ Prof. Abdul Rasheed the President, Federation of Islamic Medical Association (FIMA) coming from Malaysia
◽️ Dr. Khadija Abdallah the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Manager at UNICEF based in Somalia
◼️ Dr. Abdi Mohammed the Chairperson of Social Health Authority (SHA) @_shakenya who is the former Founder & CEO of Ladnan Hospital, and former Director at KMPDC
◾️ Dr. Ahmed Mohamed the Director of Health Products & Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB)

Day 1 featured a rich scientific programme with comprehensive plenary discussions as well as track presentations following a Pre-Conference the previous day.

The KAMMP AGM was also held with elections of new officials to serve the next 2-year term at National Governing Council (NGC) and Branch levels.

The day ended with a Conference Gala Dinner by the Beach under the Full Moon, graced by various dignitaries including the Governor of Lamu County H.E. Gov. Issa Timamy who was the Chief Guest for the evening networking event Masha’Allah

Day 2 ends at 2pm today insha’Allah concluding the 2½ days of our 6th KAMMP Annual Conference.
