"He has told you, o man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God."
-Micah 6:8-
For what profit is a lamp if it does not give light to him who sits in darkness? And what profit is a Christian when he benefits no one, neither leads any one back to virtue?
St. John Chrysostom, whom the Church commemorates today (11/26).
A man once came to me and started to recount all his grievances with his wife. When he had finished I said to him:
"Are you really so stupid?"
"What's so stupid about what I've been saying?" he asked.
"Everything," I replied. "This wife of yours loves you deeply."

"I know," he said, "but look at all the things she does to me..."
"She does all these things to you to sanctify you, but you're too dim-witted to realize it. Instead of being sanctified, you are infuriated and make your life hell."

Too many people make the mistake of limiting Orthodoxy to church services, a few rules, and occasionally reading spiritual books.
True Orthodoxy, however, demands devotion in all forms of our life.
To be Orthodox at all times, every day, in every circumstance of life—or not to be Orthodox at all.
Father Seraphim Rose
Tolerate each other's failures and imperfections, for therein lies salvation. Fire is not extinguished by fire, but by water. Likewise, evil is vanquished only by love.
