Yall remember Kylin Hill? This brother was a major turning point in the flag's removal. In June 2020, #MississippiStateUniversity running back Kylin Hill tweeted: "Either change the flag or I won't be representing this State anymore & I meant that .. I'm tired".
Hill, a #Mississippi native and one of the top rushers in the #SEC at the time, issued this threat directly in response to #Governor Tate Reeves' initial hesitation to support a new flag design. His stance sparked a massive wave of support
Pressure on #Leadership: His tweet went viral and put immediate pressure on state legislators and #university officials to take a definitive stand.
Widespread Support: Other athletes and coaches—including those from #OleMiss—publicly backed him, as did the SEC and #NCAA.
Resulting Change: Lawmakers passed the bill to retire the old flag just days after Hill's ultimatum. Hill was later honored by his hometown for his role in the historic change.
While Hill stayed and played for a portion of the 2020 season, his threat is widely credited with accelerating the legislative process to remove the Confederate emblem.
With the dismantling of the black voting rights in the South Black athletes in the SEC could really redistribute the pain with over $470 million!!!
Just saying…
The amount of weight we used to throw around at 6am when I was a college football player was huge.
I don’t think most people understand how strong a college football player is.
315 for reps on bench isn’t normal lol
New York State has ordered cosmetology and hairstyling schools to teach kinky, coily, and curly hair care, with the updated curriculum required to be implemented by September 2026.
I don’t follow hockey, but this had me tearing up. They brought their teammate’s (who was killed by a drunk driver) kids out onto the ice with their dad’s jersey to celebrate the moment. 🥹
I keep hearing people say “check on your friends and family” and that’s cool, but people with mental health issues can really hide their pain more than anything. Create a bond where that person can feel comfortable enough to tell you when they don’t feel well.
MENS MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS:
Legendary #Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin has talked about struggling with mental health post-playing career and the serious effects it caused to his family 💔
“I would say that I was clinically depressed for at least eight months. I’m tired. My first daughter, my whole world has shifted and changed in the blink of an eye, and I did not really have prior examples of discipline in my life on how to manage and deal with this properly. Even the guys who have retired before me. They all struggled, and I couldn't lean on them because I knew a struggle was coming. You can’t really plan for that. Eight months of pure hell.”
“I remember one day, and I was sitting down in the chair, and my wife was on the floor playing with our daughter, and I started crying. My wife was like: “Are you alright? What is wrong?” And I said: “I don’t know.” That was when I got my third counselor.”
“I can route you up and catch this ball, turn around and talk sh*t to you, and I am in control of that. That’s a really powerful feeling. When you don’t have that, you know? I am lost. I am completely and utterly lost. I don’t know which way is up, and I've got this baby in front of me, my wife, this house, and I’m 30 years old. I gotta figure this out. It was rough. It had a significant impact on my family.”
This is sadly something that many athletes go through 🙏🙏🙏
