Now back to processing a few hundred more TBs of space laser data.
In case anyone still thought this was about "graffiti"—UC is clearly misusing their private police to target unions. Last night they searched a member’s home for: “Evidence of membership or affiliation with any university organization […] to include any reference to "UAW"
Labor Relations @UCSanDiego told workers back in December it was ok to chalk on buildings. On 6/30 the university had 3 workers arrested on felony charges of vandalism. Funny how things change when the boss wants to wriggle out of a union contract.
Looking for something to do on Mon, July 10 @ noon? Come support comrades who were arrested on bogus charges re: chalking on @Scripps_Ocean campus.
Let's show @Leinen4ocean+
@UCSanDiego we aren't just a small group of activists like they think! 🫡✊

🧵about this 👇 (1/13)
University of California San Diego Police jailed student workers, confiscated their belongings and charged them with felonies - all for writing informative messages about the university's ongoing labor violations using washable chalk.

.@UCSanDiego is trying to set a dangerous precedent by charging 59 students with physical assault & disruption for free speech expression. This is an attack on all student and worker groups in higher education. Sign on against this injustice: https://t.co/03eGhxNFTl
Crazy stuff afoot here at @ucsandiego! University has charged 67 students (20 of whom were not even there!) with "physical assault & endangerment" of Chancellor Khosla, even though videos clearly show it to be a peaceful protest. This seems like unnecessary escalation.
But here's the good news: YOU can do something about it. We already have most of the solutions to tackle climate change, but we need to change a f*cked up system that has been controled by big oil for too long. So go out there and talk about it. Advocate for climate policy now!
Huge amounts of snow in SoCal, even SAN DIEGO COUNTY was POWDER-SKIABLE!! Been an absolute blast! ❄❤️
The mountain snowpack is also our most effective reservoir and first line of defense against droughts. Time to take action now to #protectourwinters! Learn more: @ProtectWinters
For us Californians this means more extreme flooding in wetter winters, followed by severe drought and wildfires in dry and hot summers. We're starting to see this now.
The warmer it gets in the future the more of this precipitation will fall as rain rather than snow, and the earlier all the snow will melt out in the spring.
