This scene is everything. The art direction, music, and character motion all hit hard.
Giving the protagonist roots in Paraguay — not the kind of background you can reduce to a symbol — quietly signals this story will have real depth.
More than anything, though, the whole thing feels reverent but not reverential toward its legacy — and honestly, that's a rarity when nostalgia has become a crutch for so many of Japan's big IP.
