@katierozes That is a big difference, but the balance comes with Eddie being so so so good at repressing his feelings. Besides, I don’t think him coming to terms with his feelings for Buck and dating someone else are mutually exclusive.
Buck didn’t have an immediate “feelings for Eddie” realization when he came to terms with his sexuality. I don’t think it’s fair to expect that of Eddie.
Also if we’re talking ooc for Eddie, it would be jumping to act on his feelings, potentially sacrificing their friendship.
i just think for him to date first, there would have to be some sort of reason for why a sexuality realization for him wouldn't immediately trigger "oh i'm in love with my bisexual best friend i share a life with" realization too. like if he gets scared or buck gets scared.
I think a good “reason” he’d date other men would be to move on from his feelings for Buck. Because what they have is so important to him and the risk is so massive.
Of course I don’t think it would WORK. But even so, he’ll do his best to protect their bond as it is.
I think it would be funny if Eddie’s first boyfriend was just plain as hell. Buck losing his mind because Eddie introduces him and the guy’s just like
“Hey everybody, I work in finance and I /loooove/ coffee! My hobbies are golf and finance! Coffee!”
