In a week when it has been revealed that a man who claims to be a woman sexually assaulted a woman in a woman’s prison, “equality groups” are worried about the safety of a convicted child abuser in a men’s prison because he claims to be a woman & so want him moved to a woman’s prison.

*ahem*

WOMEN ARE NOT SAFETY SHIELDS FOR BAD MEN.

There are many “vulnerable” men in men’s prisons. Old men, young men, disabled men, sick men, gay men, police officers and, yes, child abusers (“vulnerable” for different reasons to the others on the list, obviously). The male estate seems to manage to accommodate and or protect these men. They can do the exact same for the men who claim to be women. There is precisely zero reason why men who claim to be women should be treated differently to any other man by putting him in a woman’s prison upon his request.

In fact, “these men are unsafe so they should be in the women’s prison” isn’t even an argument. It’s a giant logic leap that far too many people have accepted without a second of critical thinking. It makes those who have accepted it look incredibly gullible, at best.

If there needs to be “vulnerable men” wings in men’s prison, have that conversation, but don’t use women - who are all vulnerable hence why they’re in a prison separate to men to begin with - as the emotional support animals for dangerous, convicted criminal men.
