A Japanese company hired 11 full-time office cats to reduce workplace stress, and it’s working.

Tokyo-based Qnote Inc. first adopted a cat in 2004 and has since grown its feline staff to 11 permanent office residents. Employees say the cats boost morale, encourage short breaks, and create a much more relaxed and pleasant work environment.

Each cat even has an official job title, such as “office clerk,” “manager,” or “auditor”, making them fully integrated into the company culture. The company loves cats so much that “cat lover” is now listed as a requirement for human job applicants.

To accommodate its furry employees, Qnote renovated the office with 12 cat toilets, climbing shelves, and scratch-resistant walls, allowing the cats to roam freely without causing damage. The result? Lower stress levels and stronger team bonding among staff.

The final piece in the immediate return in last years unorthodox trade saga, Taylor Hall. It's been quite the journey for Hall. After a remarkable junior career with the Windsor Spitfires Hall would be taken 1st overall by the Edmonton Oilers. It feels like a distant memory now but unfortunately for Taylor and Edmonton that would be the start of the dark days for the Oil. It was a unique journey for a number one pick. Handful of decent individual years in Edmonton, a Hart trophy in Jersey, cup of coffee in Phoenix, a real push for the cup in Boston, and then being a healthy scratch on one of the worst teams in recent memory in Chicago. You'd be forgiven for thinking at the time maybe it was over for Hall but a 3rd round pick and taking Hall's contract of their books to get Chicago to help in the Rantanen trade sent Taylor to Carolina. Hall would be a excellent addition to the forward depth in his first half season with the Canes but he'd forever cement himself in Hurricanes lore in his first full year in Raleigh. Taylor began this season on the 4th line but as the lines got settled he'd find himself alongside the two youngest players on the team on the 2nd line. It was clear the kids had given Hall a pep in his step he'd lost and in return he played the role of player coach bringing out the best in Blake and Stankoven. Still, the 2nd line was arguably the biggest question heading into the playoffs. They'd make us all look silly for ever second guessing them. Hall's line would not only rise to the occasion, they'd be the best line in the entire playoffs. No one is upset Staal got the Conn Smyty but runner up with a bullet has to be Taylor Hall. It's been quite the journey but 19 seasons later Taylor Hall's name will forever be etched in silver and in our hearts in Carolina. The Canes and Hall, a match two decades in the making.
