7AM - „drive-by“ breakfast. An #elephant eats up to 250 kilos a day. At least 2 more hours before we‘ll reach @ElephantNatureP where the elephants will find a new home - and more fodder, I‘m sure. #Thailand#GIreporter
Still some 200km to go before 🐘 rescue mission will reach @ElephantNatureP in #ChiangMai. Convoy stopped at a gas station as the truck drivers need to rest for 2 hours. But at least one passenger seems wide awake and curious. #elephants#Thailand#GIreporter
Boarding completed! 7 elephants loaded onto 7 trucks. Off to a better life hopefully! No more riding at their new home @ElephantNatureP. Stay tuned for updates as we make our way to #Chiangmai 800km across #Thailand. #GIreporter
Many elephant camps in #Thailand are struggling to feed their animals as #coronavirus has brought int. #tourism to a halt. Without revenue this owner is forced to sell 7 elephants to @ElephantNatureP. New home is 800km away. Stay tuned as #GIreporter will go along for the rescue!

Thailand was removed from the list of risk-areas for #SARSCov2. Therefore there is no quarantine required in #Germany upon arrival from #Thailand. Hopefully further easing of restrictions will follow soon.
