I am a lover of life-long learning! I don't know all there is to know and that doesn't scare me, instead it moves me. I love my family and career as a teacher.

Whether your class discussions are happening online or in-person, an agreed upon set of hand signals can be a great way to boost engagement and create more equitable discussions.

@readteachtravel @TeachEnglishNC @teacher2teacher Videoconferencing makes the organic flow of conversations around literature really hard.

@cultofpedagogy Thank you for this thread. We are in remote until winter break, but until then I want to learn all I can so when we enter a hybrid setting I will feel a little less anxious, and this will put my students more at ease.

@ELmagazine Journaling in an electronic journal. It is like a conversation and it nice to know what is on their mind.

Help needed: wanting to do an exploring American Culture thru 🎶. What songs or prompts would sync well with this?

@Willmdunn One more thing....since my sixth graders are talking about sensitive topics involving the book they r reading I don’t want to leave them alone in any kind of breakout room...zoom, google meet, in case something is said that might harm another student.

[𝙼𝚛𝚜. 𝚆𝚊𝚐𝚘𝚗𝚎𝚛 @flockofrobins]

@Willmdunn I am trying this out next week: I will meet with ten students at a time to do lit circles for the first half of class. I tell the other half of class to hop on halfway through class time and I dismiss the first group so I can have a discussion with the next group.

[𝙼𝚛𝚜. 𝚆𝚊𝚐𝚘𝚗𝚎𝚛 @flockofrobins]

@Willmdunn Mistake Learned: I had kids go to Breakout Rooms and record their convo so I could later review it. They couldn’t record it bc they didn’t initiate it. I could teach kids how to initiate Google Meets. But I don’t have the strength right now.
