Commissioner Yaworsky is forcing American Mobile Insurance Exchange to surrender the company’s COA after completing administrative supervision.
OIR remains committed to ensuring that any additional liabilities that might arise from this company’s departure will be handled promptly and in accordance with Florida law.
Commissioner Mike Yaworsky said, “Florida continues to grow a full stable of well capitalized companies that are committed to our State and ready to help consumers pay claims. Evasive companies that cancel all their policies and want to redomesticate are not committed to Floridians and have no place in our State. Competition is booming in Florida, and the quality of service they provide to consumers is in the front of my mind.”

Today, I signed Executive Order 26-202, declaring a state of emergency for 25 counties in preparation for Tropical Depression Nine.

Floridians should have their plans in place, keep emergency supply kits fully stocked, and follow @FLSERT for weather updates and preparedness information.
Some tenant policyholders of American Modern Home may even see higher rate decreases than the -12.8% average. Policyholders in over 30 of Florida’s counties will have an average rate change ranging from -13.1% to -13.9%. The company’s highest concentration of business is in Orange and Broward counties with rate change averages of -13.4% and -13.8%.
Commissioner Mike Yaworsky is approving an average -12.8% rate decrease for more than 120,000 rental insurance policies that will be effective this MONTH!
Commissioner Yaworsky said, “The Office of Insurance Regulation is approving major rate decreases across the board, including decreases in insurance for our Florida renters. We are working hard to get rates down for all policies and we will continue to reach out to companies and ask them to do more. Stay tuned!”
