Gaga’s mistake was overestimating her audience’s capacity to sit with her concepts and artistry, IMO. She always had a clear vision of what she was doing, but struggled to translate it for what was then a mostly teenage and inexperienced fanbase. ARTPOP’s concept would have been received very differently today than it was 13 years ago.
