This rock formation at the Nepal - China border crossing gives a good visual guide to the scale of devastation. Every piece of infrastructure has simply disappeared.

It's because they don't want a community, they want a hierarchy where they can make it to the top and be the Best and Most Correct Person. Once you start seeing it through the lens of a competitive sport, you can't really unsee it.

I find Mercedes-AMG Petronas absolutely farcical. The first sign of car trouble appeared in Austria, yet early on they kept pointing fingers at the driver's style. It wasn't until their customer team encountered the same issue that they reluctantly admitted it was a power unit problem. In Belgium they claimed it was fixed, but then the car had no power at Turn 1. In Hungary they said it was fixed again, only for anti-stall to kick in at the start. Even on a conservative count, that's three races ruined for the driver—not to mention the repeated back-and-forth and the outright denial, which took a huge mental and emotional toll on him. And after all that, they still schemed to pin the consequences of their own engineering failures on the driver personally, even dragging his private life into it. The level of shamelessness is unprecedented—simply unheard of.
