@TheBaconFather commander amanda lee flew right into the history books as a cautionary tale. swift removal is the only move when you break the trust of the team.
How well do you *๐ก๐๐ฏ๐* to understand your codebase?
Two camps exist. The purists say you must hold a complete "๐ญ๐ก๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ" of the program. If you lose it, scrap the code and rebuild.
The realists know this is ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ญ ๐ฌ๐๐๐ฅ๐.
"programming as theory building" sounds great. In practice, it fails for two reasons.
1. You can't ๐ซ๐๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ฅ๐ large systems from scratch. Successful rewrites happen inside the old system, one chunk at a time.
2. "๐๐๐๐" codebases are revived all the time. You build a new theory by tracing one flow, then branching out.
tbh, the defining feature of modern software is that everyone operates with a ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ข๐ง๐๐จ๐ซ๐ซ๐๐๐ญ theory.
Theory building is just one value among many. It trades off against:
> Speed
> Legal compliance
> Security patches
> Allowing colleagues to quit
> Dependencies
LLMs complicate this. They make deep theory harder but let you leverage a partial theory faster. A tradeoff, not automatically bad.
You are paid to solve problems, not to maintain a pristine mental model. Embrace the partial understanding. Grit your teeth, make your best guess, and deal with the consequences.
Open-Source Claude Design, Now Completely Free
Someone just open-sourced Claude Design and made it completely free. It's called Open Design โ and it looks and works just like the original, but with zero usage limits or paywalls.
> Works with any AI model โ ChatGPT APIs, local models, or whatever you prefer
> Create animated websites, mobile app prototypes, slides, and full motion graphics
> Full interactive canvas โ keep prompting and refining until your design is perfect
You can practically run it completely free.
Are We Offloading Too Much Thinking to AI?
The Microphone Man at a startup event records every conversation and lets Claude do his critical thinking. He believes the AI is smarter than him in all respects.
That's a dangerous surrender of autonomy.
We outsource everything from breakfast choices to complex reasoning. But there's real value in the struggle of thinkingโwalking without your phone, debating historical theories with your sister before asking ChatGPT.
The line between assistant and loss of control is thin.
> Know what you offload.
> Keep the final decisions for yourself.
