It’s so beautiful! We were staying in Bairro Alto so the view every morning was gorgeous. We didn’t have much time to prepare before the trip so we went on a walking tour and learned a lot (had no idea about the earthquake and tsunami before that, but I loved how the city ended up being rebuilt with the difference between the hilly and flat areas). Loved that trip!

I understand how you feel, ha. I think sometimes his promos can operate more in that symbolic plane without being grounded quickly enough so that the point is clear. I like the depth, though. I’m glad he brought that voice to wrestling and is successful with it despite the average wrestling fan not having much patience. He does seem to be listening to feedback online because he tries to make his promos sound more immediate these days. My favourite will always be the one with Heyman. There’s a tweet that’s the predecessor of that promo.

!!! I completely agree there. I connect far more with his interviews, albeit I love the promos too. I think the promos up until last year were for fans like me. I’ve been writing like that since middle school and I associate Cody with ancient literary characters and the lyrics of classic prog rock bands like Pink Floyd and King Crimson. So I connect with the overarching themes in his promos but he’s moving away from that. Catch phrases like “easy to find, hard to beat” are not for me. Whereas I always loved “what do you wanna talk about?” as I associate it with Socrates. He brought something novel to wrestling and seems to be giving it up in promos but it’s still present in interviews.

@senjanzi I love Cena but he was booed less than a year in already and quite consistently. I think Cody is more authentic in the role than Cena. Cena would have always made for a better heel (until they actually turned him).

And it pisses me off because he’s a far more popular and accepted FOTC than Cena and Reigns were as faces yet he’s sabotaged every step of the way. I think a massively unpopular decision is coming down the pipeline and they’re gaslighting fans now into thinking pushback won’t work.

The last time I said I don’t trust HHH with Cody, some stranger who started watching wrestling last year berated me and called me a bitch lol but that’s how I feel. I see it how you do - they’ve been undermining him a lot this year. I don’t get it at all - the way they disrespect him while he’s actively giving back to the fans is just odd. I think that statement was put out to convince fans they really wanted Rock vs. Roman and that the company astroturfed WWC. It’s annoying and loses the trust of the fans (not that there is any left anyway).

@senjanzi I don’t think it had in the sense that I don’t think they expected the response. They would have pushed through with the plan but at that time, Dwayne was getting backlash from Black Adam, the Maui fires, etc. He wanted to be seen as the good guy in real life so he stepped back.

I typically refrain from responding to toxic, false clickbait garbage like this because I hate dignifying bullshit with a response, but when you use Hawaii’s tragic events to draw attention to yourself I won’t stay quiet.

This moment you’re referring to is from our @WWE press conference this past Thursday where I turned “heel” - wrestling parlance for bad guy. I’m playing it up with our crowd as they boo. It’s what we do in our WWE universe, and we all love every second of it.

For the record:
Our People’s Fund of Maui has already DELIVERED over $50 MILLION DOLLARS to over 8,000 survivors who were affected by the fires, and I’m grateful to the bone that we’ve been the primary funders.

Hawaii is where I grew up, where I raise my children throughout the year and where my ancestors are buried. These are my Polynesian people and these are OUR American people. You can’t imagine how much they are still struggling daily to put their lives back together and take care of each other. Our Poly American people are as resilient as people come, and they will raise and get back on their feet.

Nick, instead of posting bullshit like this that you know is false - I encourage you to post something positive for Hawaii, for our Polynesian American people. Or actually take positive action and come to Hawaii to help out in an uplifting way.
I’m in Hawaii now, and I guarantee you, you’ll get great content that can actually make a difference in people’s lives.
Genuinely.

Let’s put our energy and our online platforms into lifting people up. Acknowledging the good things that people do. Raising awareness for the suffering in ways that can effectively help. It takes so much effort to be negative, and create and spread bullshit - but when you spread positivity, kindness, and lead by example you can really impact lives.

I’m sorry to all our Poly/Hawaiian ohana of Maui, for shining light on this toxicity as you struggle through tough times - I always try to be Na’au Pono.
