More approvals ≠ better oversight. Approve enough routine AI decisions and attention fades; the rare one needing a human can get missed.

An AI agent approves a loan at 2:14 a.m. Can you explain why to a regulator?

A log file isn't an audit trail. Our CTO Micha Kiener MoneyToday @News_ZV on auditable AI in finance: orchestration, human-in-the-loop and BPMN/CMMN/DMN (in German):

Your newest team member is an AI agent. So how do you govern it?

Patrick Zuest and Micha Kiener showed how Flowable 2026.1 gives agents more autonomy inside the case, with audit insights, guardrails, and open LLM support.

We're proud to share that Flowable has been named in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Business Orchestration and Automation Technologies (BOAT).

Regulated industries like banking, insurance, and healthcare run on long, high-stakes processes. They need orchestration, they can govern, and AI they can explain, which is exactly what our Agentic Case Platform is built for.

It brings process automation, case management, decisioning, and AI agent governance together in one engine, built on open standards like BPMN, CMMN, and DMN. Every agent action lands in an auditable timeline, so governance scales right alongside the work.

Your newest hire just started, and it's an AI Agent. Nobody handed it an employee handbook. Nobody's tracking what it decides. That's the blind spot Flowable 2026.1 closes.

Join us live on Sept 24 for: "Your Newest Team Member Is an AI Agent. Learn How to Govern It."

What we'll cover:

→ Agents doing more, with every action still accountable
→ Audit trails detailed enough to defend, not just review
→ Guardrails and evaluators keeping complex work in check
→ Any LLM you want, inside a governed process layer
→ One orchestration core holding people, systems, and agents together

Free. Online. Sept 24, 2026.

Modeling everything by hand? That's over.

Flowable Design now connects via MCP, so AI like Claude Code can build, test, and fix your process models until they match what you asked for.

How do you bring agentic automation into the enterprise without losing control?

In a new video, Fabio Filippelli, SVP of Global Sales at Flowable, explains how applying the "need to know" principle to agents makes this possible. Context is sized to only what's required, with clear guardrails on inputs and outputs.

On the decisions that matter most, a human or system still checks the result, so enterprises stay in control.

Can you say what data flows into your agent, what comes out, and where the limits are?

Micha Kiener (CTO, Flowable) splits agent control into three layers: govern the data (restrict access, strip PII before it hits the model), keep deterministic logic out of the prompt (it just wastes tokens), and push hard rules like guardrails outside the LLM entirely, since those need to hold every time, not most of the time.

What is agentic case management?

Think less "follow the steps" and more "figure it out as you go." AI agents work inside cases that shift and evolve, mapping out the next move only once the situation actually calls for it.

When a decision needs a human touch, that's not a breakdown being fixed on the fly, it's simply part of how the case was designed to move.

It's judgment and reasoning, not just execution.

Leadership sees an org ready for AI at scale. The people running it see disconnected tools and blind spots.

Add AI agents to that setup and things don't get faster, they get riskier.

Scale comes from orchestration, not more automation.

What is agentic orchestration, and what does it actually do?

It coordinates AI agents, systems, and people across a business process, keeping context intact and logging who did what, in what order, on whose authority.

Multi-agent systems create capability. Orchestration creates accountability.

Most AI deployments in regulated industries follow the same pattern.

The pilot works. Then someone asks, "What happens when the agent is wrong?"

Everything stalls. The challenge isn't AI automation. It's building a process that still works when AI gets it wrong.

Next week, we're releasing something built around a different idea:

The case, not the agent, governs what happens next.

We'll show you what we mean next week.

Missed our webinar? The recording is now up 🎥

Joram Barrez & Micha Kiener sat down to unpack how Flowable approaches agentic AI orchestration, and where this is all heading: a future where software gets generated, UIs get generated, and the model itself becomes the artifact your teams govern and run.

Building an AI agent takes an afternoon. Keeping it running reliably inside a real business is the part nobody warns you about. That gap has a name: orchestration.

Here's what they dug into:
- Durable state, no matter how long the process runs
- Giving each model only the tools it needs, nothing more
- Keeping humans in the loop at the moments that matter
- Versioning agents without breaking work already in flight
- Producing an audit trail you can actually stand behind

Routine healthcare claims are rarely the problem.

The exceptions are: documentation requests, manual reviews, denials, appeals.

Effective automation combines workflows, rules, and AI to manage exceptions and keep payments moving.
