This is Apple's rarest notification—and if you receive it, your life could be in danger

I've been closely following Apple's unprecedented security notification campaign that just reached users across 100 countries warning of mercenary spyware attacks.

The notifications—sent via email and iMessage—target individuals Apple believes have been compromised by sophisticated state-sponsored surveillance tools like Pegasus and Graphite.

Among confirmed recipients are Italian journalist Ciro Pellegrino and Dutch activist Eva Vlaardingerbroek, highlighting that high-visibility professionals remain primary targets.

What's particularly concerning from the TechCrunch report is Apple's explicit language: "This attack is likely targeting you specifically because of who you are or what you do" and "Apple has high confidence in this warning — please take it seriously."

Since Apple began this notification program in 2021, they've now alerted users in over 150 countries.
