Hi Cristian. I’ve been here for the last 14 years, and stuck around over the last few months of the conflict, and I can tell you a lot of the reduction in traffic (both on the roads and in the malls) is down to the significantly reduced tourism, which is now being further impacted by the usual summer drawdown, as you mentioned.

Tourism has started a moderate recovery from the beginning of the conflict, where the hotels were virtually empty (<5% occupancy) and they are now getting very busy at weekends, as residents are taking advantage of the staycation deals etc. but the main issue seems to be some tourists not being able to get travel insurance in their country of origin. I think that this issue will disappear as soon as a deal is in place, so we should see a significant recovery when it starts to cool down.

One other thing to mention, I’ve felt safer here during this conflict, even with my two young children, than I do when I travel back to London to see family! As you say, it will be just fine!

You’re clearly nowhere near the conflict - today is the fist day since the beginning of the conflict where there were ZERO ballistic missiles fired at the UAE! And the numbers have been dropping steadily since day 3. It makes perfect logical sense that any uptick in launches against Israel have to be redirected launches from other countries.
