For years, the tribal people of Dabra, Chattisgarh faced a persistent water crisis, isolated by dense forests and rugged hills. Due to this, the power grid faced limitations.
But the sun is universal. And there is no shortage of local determination ready to harness it.
So came the incredible and innovative Jal Bahinis—the local women who are leading this decentralized transition on the ground.
A standalone, off-grid solar pumping network managed entirely by village women, providing clean tap water right to doorsteps, wiping out recurring energy costs, and reclaiming hours of time for families.
This is the sort of community-led utility management many of us have been wishing to see for decades.
Please do read their inspiring story, it is a reminder of the absolute tenacity that humans possess. Truly wonderful.

A Business Is Not the Same Thing as an Idea
I think one of the biggest confusions in the startup world is that we often treat innovation and business-building as the same thing. They overlap, yes, but they are not identical.
You can spend years obsessing over an idea, imagining the scale of what it could become, and still not have something that can function as an actual business. And I don’t mean that dismissively. I think a lot of genuinely smart people fall into this trap because creating things is exciting. Systems are not.
The difficult part starts when the idea has to leave your head and survive contact with reality. That is when you realise that people are not just evaluating your product, they are evaluating whether your company itself can be trusted. They see whether you have processes in place, whether procurement teams can work with you, whether you can handle scale without things becoming chaotic, and whether someone besides the founder can actually operate the business.
Someone once asked me something that stayed with me for a long time: “Do you actually want to run a business?”
At first, I found the question strange because, of course, I did. But later I understood what they meant. Running a company is as much about creativity as it is about structure, repetition, accountability, process, hiring, legal, compliance, operations — all the things nobody romanticizes when they talk about startups.
And honestly, this is where many good ideas start to die, not because the founders lacked intelligence, but because the business underneath the idea was fragile. A strong product may open doors for you. But if the organization behind it is messy, eventually those doors stop opening.
I think the founders who last are usually the ones who understand that innovation and execution need to grow together. One without the other creates an imbalance. Either you end up with a brilliant idea nobody can scale, or a well-run company with nothing meaningful at its core.
The real challenge is learning how to build both at the same time.

Devastated to see the images coming out of the Rang forest area in Ramnagar.
As someone who has dedicated their life to the clean energy transition, witnessing an intense heatwave trigger a wildfire like this hits incredibly hard.
It is a painful reminder that climate change isn't a distant threat and is happening right now, where it has affected our beautiful country.
My thoughts are with the brave firefighters and local teams working tirelessly to contain the blaze.
We must move faster, innovate harder, and accelerate the transition to a net-zero future.
We must do this so that the next generation can live without fear of depleting resources.
