I've never explicitly stated this here, so let me be clear - I am proship / pro-fic.
For any reason, at any time.
Unlike some folks on here, I do not correlate the content people interact with online with their offline behavior.
Someone who genuinely loves a character, including finding them sexually attractive, often understands their personality and story better than someone whose only contribution is complaining about their sexualization.
people get so mad when you’re not a perfect, pliant victim that only tries to be “pure” or “normal” in their eyes. if you use proshipping or fanfics to cope and claim control of your own trauma and emotions, you’re suddenly treated terribly for trying to heal yourself. so stupid.
@turmoilPaste Why did I read “domtop” as “demon top” 🤣🤣🤣
That aside, there’s something so fascinating about the way Jason wields hypermasculinity. He’s, like, 16 here, calling himself daddy. Like he knows he’s in a comic book and playing it up for the audience. It’s all v meta.
@turmoilPaste It would make so much more sense than people saying HB or JPV are the characters we think Jason is.
Hate it, but like… Hating intellectually.
@_constel_ -Bruce, Alfred, Dick, and 90% of the hero community bad mouthing a kid trying to save his mom?!
Don’t worry, I’ll wait!!
(TL;DR - I agree this age thing is a nothingburger that should be inconsequential but because people are being obtuse, we have to be Like That.)
@_constel_ -back but like…
If y’all are okay with DC killing off a kid for shock value - and for a certain someone to be introduced - why does it matter if he comes back at 18 or 21?! If him being older makes his actions more deplorable, what does that say about-
@_constel_ -believe anytbung else.
Nvm that it doesn’t rly change much except make the timeline further down make more sense. Jason dying at 13-14 is no different than him dying at 15. He’s still a kid who was killed violently for shock value.
@_constel_ Because it takes less work to be an obtuse asshole than to actually listen to the people who are presenting you proof of their findings. Jason being 15 at death is instrumental to so many of these people’s understanding of Jason for some reason that it becomes insurmountable to-
@turmoilPaste -step it. They only care that Roy, as one of Dicks possessions, being dirtied by being associated with Jason. Doesn’t matter that that association makes just as much sense, especially for where Roy was as a character at the time.
It’s so childish.
@turmoilPaste Let’s call a thing a thing, friend - their parasocial hatred has no basis in canon or any real logic. DC could release a comic where Roy could literally come out and say he cherishes the time he spent with Jason as an Outlaw, and people would literally find any reason to side-
@_constel_ -Jason to reminisce about being 16 years old.
Of all the things used to say Jason is 15, this is one of the flimsiest and I don’t get why people keep using it.
@_constel_ I rly feel like some of these people are playing in our faces because this 16 is, like, The Age to be for teenagers. It’s when you can officially get your license in most states, when some people start applying to college, etc etc.
It makes perfect sense for a 13/14 year old-
