Every year, airports undergo comprehensive inspections by the Federal Aviation Administration, evaluating everything from runway conditions and airfield lighting to record keeping and emergency response readiness.
We're proud to share that ORF passed this year's inspection with zero discrepancies π β a testament to our unwavering commitment to safety, excellence and operational integrity.
A huge thank you to our Airside Operations and Field Maintenance Teams for their hard work and attention to detail. Your efforts help ensure ORF continues to meet β and exceed β the highest standards every day.

@NorfolkBotanic's Airport Overlook is the coolest place to learn about flight, see unobstructed views of the airfield and hear FAA Norfolk Tower controllers on the job. Pack your blanket & a picnic for your best day of plane spotting βοΈπΏπΈ
Please share your concerns with your airline, Beth. The people who guide aircraft to the gates are hired by the airlines, not the airport. No one working for ORF touches a plane, whether it's to connect to the jet bridge or to refuel or opening doors to the cabin or baggage compartments. Those are 100% airline duties handled by the companies that own and operate the aircraft.
Great news! ORF travelers have an additional month to see the special @jyfmuseums display celebrating VA250 and America250, on view in our Main Lobby. The exhibit highlights the larger VA250 Signature Exhibition, "Give Me Liberty: Virginia & The Forging of a Nation", which opened July 1 at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. You can learn more about the exhibit on display in Yorktown here: https://t.co/5ZbCb95Rbp

ORF had the pleasure of hosting students from @BGClubseva for our annual "Sky's The Limit" event. The students practiced going through the TSA security checkpoint, enjoyed a narrated airfield tour, participated in a paper airplane competition and learned about the different departments that make an airport run. This event provided insight to the career possibilities in aviation and helped inspire the next generation of leaders in the field βοΈ
Thank you to our event participants for helping us spread the joy of aviation:
@TSA
Virginia Department of Aviation
@VaAirandSpace

ORF Volunteer Airport Ambassadors
ORF Welcome Waggin' Therapy Dogs
ORF Departments: Fire, Police, Landside Operations, Field Maintenance, Marketing
And an extra shoutout to our hangar hosts, @SignatureFBO!

Hints: The state fair held nearby is famous for a giant cowboy statue, its NFL team is nicknamed "America's Team" and it became an important railroad hub in the late 1800s.
