However, we're not going away! We've made the strategic decision to bring forward some feature development and will be relaunching with some exciting new features as soon as the international travel market allows. All current Weekenders will get updates on this as we have them.
With the developments in #coronavirus spread this week, and particularly the amount of travel restrictions that are now surfacing, we've made the reluctant decision to suspend our subscription service. Anyone who has already subscribed will be refunded in full.
Hope everyone's had a great weekend! With the rise of the #coronavirus in the media, we'd just like to reassure all our Weekenders that we'll be continuing our weekly last-minute travel newsletters as usual, whilst taking current UK FCO advice on destinations into account.
@AnneBuckle2 Hi Anne, that's fairly standard unfortunately - unless you'd also booked a connecting leg, the fact it was booked on a codeshare makes little difference. If no joy with the travel company directly, contact your CC company - even booked with a third party you're still protected.
@AnneBuckle2 Hi, Did you book with a credit (as opposed to debit) card with total cost over ยฃ100? If so, try your CC company first (even with a debit card, worth trying your bank) - failing that, it's probably a Travel Insurance claim unfortunately. Let us know if we can help find alt flights
@elspethaw25@flybe Hi, contact Opodo in the first instance to see if they can do anything, particularly if you booked a hotel alongside as it may have ATOL cover. If flight-only, it's probably going to be a credit card chargeback or travel insurance claim needed though, unfortunately.
@p14hog @BBC_HaveYourSay Stobart Air flights are unfortunately no longer operating - unlike other franchise holders like Eastern and Blue Islands, Stobart used Flybe-owned aircraft which can no longer fly.
@HeatherGhanouni @flybe It is sadly, though Eastern are a separate company and are still operating, so you should be fine. Flybe just act as a booking agent for them.
@stumeech@CRMcAneny@flybe Only one change (via Reading) - we reckon it'd be about an hour quicker end-to-end. Take your point that the train might be less hassle though.
@LucyWBMcA @flybe Hi Lucy, how was the ticket paid for? If by credit card and over ยฃ100, you've got legal protection, claim from your card issuer. If by debit card or under ยฃ100, get in touch with them anyway, as after Thomas Cook went bust a lot of banks reimbursed customers paying via debit card
@CRMcAneny@flybe No problem at all! I'd get it booked ASAP if you did want to go that route; demand at the moment is going to be high on domestic routes!
@Teenski1@flybe Good news! Also, have a look on https://t.co/u6YDsDIZeh or your train operator booking site of choice, you may be able to get a reasonable Advance fare on the Gatwick to Southampton leg. (though an Off-Peak Return is ยฃ27 so make sure it doesn't total more than that!)
@RhydBowPhill @flybe@Cardiff_Airport@DisneyParis_EN Hi, depends if everything booked separately or a package. If a flight-inclusive package & flight ATOL protected (should be if it was a UK company you dealt with), get in touch with your agent. If all booked separately & via CC, I'd chargeback CC for flight component if over ยฃ100.
@Teenski1@flybe Easyjet fly Edinburgh-Gatwick (and Glasgow - Gatwick), both showing availability (albeit not cheap at sociable hours, sadly). You can then catch a direct (albeit slow, 1h45ish) train along the coast to Southampton. But beats train all the way - c. 3 hours faster and avoids London
@CRMcAneny@flybe You could also fly in/out of Heathrow - though that's very much not cheap on those dates, to the point of probably being uneconomical. Finally, you could take the train, and there are still reasonable Advance fares available, but realise this will take much longer.
@CarolynG1969@stereophonics Not the cheapest now unfortunately (flight prices are already creeping up for Belfast flights on other carriers since earlier this evening) - but best bet is probably EasyJet from Belfast Intl to Bristol and return, then it's about an hour by train from Bristol over to Cardiff.
