Sounds like we think alike. I have turned down offers to fly the latest and greatest very recently and made a conscious decision stay in airframes that give me more time with the family. As they enter their teens, that may change. I’ve done the global ping pong ball routine and although it’s rewarding, it’s also a lot of stress and hard on the body. Even though professionaly, I’d rather fly a more modern plane, the kids only care that Dad is around and present. I doubt I’ll ever regret putting them first.

@jbransonx Don't do that math. You'll realize that for a 12 day a month corporate job, that's approx 288 hrs a month, or 72hrs a week. Owner thinks you're overpaid, however if their office staff put in 70hr weeks, they'd be the hero.

@sydor_greg Even those who swore they'd never leave are leaving. In the past 6 months, I know of over 10 people re-domiciling their ULR aircraft out of state. This is just the beginning.

On good weather days in SoCal, that thing is plenty capable to get on the water. 12' is really small though. That's more of tender, than an open water boat. I had a 17' Zodiac in Oceanside harbor many years ago. I'd run that 20miles offshore to fish yellowtail on good weather days.

@australisav @sydor_greg Truth. Very little incentive to optimize and I've seen lots of money wasted with management co's. Client's don't question it due to the illusion of expertise.

@happytrader69 @sydor_greg Define kickback, as I've never seen one. Spent 400k recently at two different facilities. Facility one - Free hat and polo shirt that I'll never wear. Facility two - Mailed me a box of steaks from Peter Luger Steakhouse. Nice gestures, but I'd hardly call that a kickback.

@jbransonx There's pilots and there are business managers that happen to also be pilots. They are not the same skillset and take unequal amounts of effort.

@jbransonx The problem is that no matter how stoic one claims to be, unless you keep the emergency war chest topped off, most are one aircraft sale away from accepting less than they’re worth. Corporate does itself no favors by having an average pilot tenure of around 2.5yrs per job.
