What is betBase?
We are a developer community researching decentralized, non-custodial, peer-to-peer, and onchain betting / prediction markets. We are NOT a betting operator in any shape or form. We develop onchain software and support services. Our mission is to make betting and prediction of any kind a completely open-access activity between peers, with no operator involvement or control.

What is betBlox then?
betBlox is a foundation protocol that enables anyone to create betting / prediction markets or bet against them in a completely open peer-to-peer onchain system with no gaming operator in the loop. Anyone can create a market and anyone can bet against it. The important thing to note is that no backend or proprietary code is needed, and, just like a Uniswap liquidity pool, we do not have control over the MarketMaker contract or everything you create with it. It's like setting up your own private bookmaking / prediction operation onchain without any operator-controlled offchain logic like orderbooks, result resolution, settlements, or even the user interface client, which is entirely at your discretion. We do not and cannot control it. Your keys, your bets, your markets.

Can I be a market maker and a bettor at the same time?

Yes. To be a market maker, all you have to do is create a market maker contract, which is done in one transaction. After that, you create the markets you want and anyone can see and access them. So yes, the wallet you create a MarketMaker Box with can also make bets on other markets, or even your own.

Can I make a balanced book with my market?

Yes. The contract can automatically balance your book. When a bookmaker creates a market, he will set odds so that, if he receives bets on both sides, he will make a profit, the so-called Vig or Overround. This is what makes bookmakers profitable over time. As a MarketMaker (MM) in betBlox, you can do exactly the same. You can set odds, or even set fair even odds and then add a win fee like a betting exchange, or do any combination of the two.
