@nealmohan@YouTubeTV@YouTube@NFL Now, tell me why on Earth don't we have slo-motion replay on @YouTubeTV. Every DVR could do this years ago. I can even do it for @YouTube videos, but not your streaming service. Sports need slow-motion replays!
@vasha_da@howie_hua Easier to take 1 from 8 for this problem, but what about 98+9. It's easier to take 2 from the 9 to make what we call a benchmark # 100, then + the 7 on which is simple. So truly understanding the associative property is key to doing much more difficult math mentally.
@GamerChocobo@howie_hua The thing is, this child probably saw this type of problem acted out several times by the T. The S acted it out many times with counters to make a 10. Also, the S has seen a problem drawn like this exact problem on paper before and likely solved it correctly. So who is at fault?
@howie_hua like buy the S a tape measure @ dollar store, pay for stuff w/cash, give a jar of coins & when they can count correctly, they get to spend it, or measure for a recipe or home project. Those real-world experiences help make my math instruction come to life for the students! 2 of2
@howie_hua THIS is the reason I do not send homework with my first and second-grade students. The adult at home all too often discredits the strategies being explored and/or the teacher and ends up causing issues at home. Instead of homework, I send suggestions for math explorations...1of2
@tomloveless99@howie_hua For the very reason he gave in the video if you watched it to the end. The S you describe doesn't already "know" 98+7 or 498+7, but with make a 10 strategy, they can solve many problems easier and faster. Knowing the associative property helps build stronger mathematicians!
@ModestTeacher Sadly, I did not, as it was full of academic confusion and bullying. I had 4 unidentified disabilites that were not identified until after I turned 30. My experience in school is why I'm an educator now. The ONLY thing that kept me in school was sports- track and cross country!
@timlriley I'm sorry to hear of the struggles, life is so freakin hard & is quite messy. 1 foot in front of the other....keep moving forward even when it feels like you're getting knocked down....YOU are important to the world & please DM me (or others who've offered) before it's more dire
@drizzyontwt@Miraclenuts@KCSportsNetwork You're right, it doesn't count. No quarterback in the history of time counts preseason losses as a loss on their W/L record. The NFL doesn't either.
