'Sovereignty' is one of the most used words in defence. It's also one of the most misunderstood. Modern capability is often built through partnership, not isolation. My latest Substack article: https://t.co/IKvSHZdP9U

@BobFranklin3 Good things are happening behind the scenes, Bob. We’re already filming and producing content, but we’re keeping a few cards close to our chest for now. For now, all I can say is that we’re targeting a summer launch. More details soon.
One former military pilot now flying a state-of-the-art airliner. One experienced tv and film producer. One aerospace, defence, and tech communications veteran.
A new aviation-themed YouTube channel is taking shape.

Who wins Skynet EC matters. What the decision says about Britain's approach to sovereignty, industrial growth and the future of its space sector may matter even more. Read more and subscribe: https://t.co/0huRlcxhcG #Defence#Space#IndustrialStrategy
@JonA2i No disingenuous comment intended at all Mr Lake. Of that you can be assured. We’re overdue a tag. Let’s sort that sooner than later, if possible.
@TyphoonTornado@JonA2i That divestment helped fund expansion in U.S. and Australia through acquisitions that have delivered strong returns. There were questions re likely future investment calls on a couple of programmes eg: A400M which proved right, looking back. Look at share price today though!
The biggest risk to Britain's future combat air ambitions may not be technology. It may be the loss of skills, confidence and industrial capacity needed to deliver them.

Same aircraft. Reverse route. Different seat. Since leaving me in Glasgow last night, this hardworking little @British_Airways A320 has squeezed in another round trip and is now about to fly me home. Next stop for this bird is warm sunshine of Majorca. I may stay on board #avgeek
@BeakerBate@JonA2i@DefenceHQ I still question figure. Huge amount of tier two/three work would be needed to offset the % lost when BAE Systems divested its Gripen JV interests with Saab. At the time, I can’t recall significant UK work arriving to compensate. Without UK radar involvement, 30% seems high!
@JonA2i@DefenceHQ Agree with the ? Jon - even when BAE Systens was a partner on Gripen and building the centre fuse (work which went to South Africa as offset to support the export deal) I don’t recall it being 30%. This claim possibly linked to stronger positioning for T-7 perhaps?
@scottiebateman A much shorter aerial adventure for me on @British_Airways 1492 this evening and, much as I like the ‘homeland’ north of the border it’s not my favourite or usual routing. Needs must though! Might even spot you in T5!
