Being Catholic is liberating

No longer do I have to try to understand Scripture on my own

No longer do I try to live in exhausting grey moral areas

No longer do I wonder if Jesus truly meant the things He said

No longer am I trying to be the captain of my own life (as if I ever really was)

If I disagree with the Catholic Church, then I am wrong, and I change my position accordingly

This way of living is far superior to the way I was living before

I do sleep a lot better these days

@BreeSolstad I got out of the cultural gay and bisexual scene. Despite what culture tells you, life in gay culture (not the individuals themselves) is a nightmare. I am shocked by those trying to christen it.

Neurodivergence is a gift

As someone with a tic disorder, some sensory issues and a good deal of social anxiety, I used to think I was weird and that something was wrong with me. I never fit in to the seemingly acceptable social circles. My own behavior in social settings would often embarrass me after the fact. I never felt like I had much to offer socially, and being in groups always felt awkward and exhausting

But now I see this as a blessing

I am extremely interested in some very important things that the world merely glosses over

I notice detail in music and art that most people never see, hear or appreciate

I learn languages relatively easily and can communicate effectively with people from diverse cultures

And I have a soft spot in my heart for the most marginalized and forgotten of people in the world and a passion for seeking justice for them

If you’re not quite “normal,” it is a beautiful thing

God made you exactly as He intended to, gifting you with passions and talents that most of the world lacks but badly needs

He makes no mistakes. You are no mistake

You are not what the world thinks of you

You are who He made you to be—quirks and all

Lean hard into this, and let His love for you carry you through the difficulties and the judgment that the world throws our way

You are meant to be a light. Shine on
