You must provide your ID, but they can wear masks and conceal their identities.
You must comply with every order, even when they ignore the very laws they’re sworn to uphold.
You’re told to prioritize the officer’s “safety,” while his masked buddies surround your car armed to the teeth.
You can't be armed, but they’re armed with military-grade weapons and authorized to use them to enforce compliance.
You can't protest or "interfere", but they can enter your homes, detain your children, and kill your neighbors.
You can't film them, but they can monitor your movements, scan your license plate, and track your location in real time.
You can be fined and imprisoned for one wrong move, but they’re shielded by qualified immunity, and legally allowed to deceive you during questioning.
At some point, the power dynamic reversed.
Public servants became untouchable authorities, and abuse of power was rebranded as “order.” In the process, we’ve normalized state-sanctioned extortion, brutality, and subservience to law enforcement.
If these profound double standards don’t alarm you, it’s not because they aren’t there. It’s because you’ve been trained not to notice. That’s how we got here.
It's time to start noticing and say no more...
Every single person out there recording these ICE shootings is a goddamn hero. Otherwise, we’d have to take DHS and Trump’s word for it—and all they do is lie to protect themselves.
No one really warns you about this part of adulthood where you start to feel homesick, not for a house, but for a moment in time. A version of life that doesn’t exist anymore. A place you can’t return to, and a feeling you didn’t know you’d miss so much until it was gone.
Here's how far we have fallen.
The five ICE officers surrounding the Honda Pilot of Renee Good had no authority over her.
Zero.
They have no local law enforcement authority.
She was born in the US. A citizen. They could not have had probable cause of an immigration violation.
The literally did not have the authority to stop & interrogate her — to order her to produce "papers," to yank open the door of her SUV, let alone kill her.
(The US Supreme Court has ruled that US law enforcement can't use deadly force to stop someone fleeing — even if there's a crime involved. And there wasn't a crime.)
So the people saying Good would be alive if she just followed orders — wrong.
Why should she?
ICE works for *her* — not the other way around. They work for us.
You don't have to follow the "orders" of people who have no authority to give you orders.
That's what the Founding Fathers believed, and what they enshrined in the Constitution.
Not: Just do what officials tell you until they can satisfy themselves.
Only Trump and Noem, and ICE, in 2025 and 2026 have decided to discard that.
That is tyranny. That's what Americans fought the Revolution against.
So if you're a conservative, or a Trump supporter, and you've read this far — check your Constitution. Check your Federalist Papers.
You've lost the plot. Of freedom, democracy, even of capitalism.
Certainly of the question of what "authority" law enforcement has over perfectly innocent citizens — going about their business, or driving, or even protesting.
1A. You're obsessed with 2A. But there's an amendment that comes first.
@StephenKing I have a goal to read all of your books. I absolutely love them. I am curious, what inspired the ending of The Mist and why was it so cruel? I have to know!
Let me get this straight.
Charlie Kirk was allowed to say whatever racist, misogynistic, anti-LGBTQ BS he wanted, because of free speech, but we aren’t allowed to say anything negative about Kirk for fear of retribution from Republicans, because we aren’t allowed free speech.
@Acyn This is all manipulation tactic. They say they are going to give money to people because of a problem they actually created but are blaming other people for. They don’t have actual intentions of giving people money. They are trying to create further divide.
So lemme get this straight:
Trump has pissed off Canada, Mexico, Greenland, Denmark & Colombia this year & we're still in January.
America will now pay 25%-50% more for:
- Oil
- Lumber
- Electricity
- Potash
- Vegetables & fruits
- Coffee
- Ozempic
Nice job, MAGA voters 😂
Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.
This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.
Auschwitz took time.
can we talk about how parents will literally ruin their relationship with their own child all because they don’t know how to apologize and admit when they’ve done wrong
I have never seen such poor support for a queer artist by the LGBTQ community before than what happened to @KingPrincess69 at @lapride… I thought we were a supportive community… guess I was wrong
