🗽 JUST ANNOUNCED: Olympic gold medalist and reigning @nycmarathon champion Tamirat Tola headlines the 2024 New York City Marathon elite men’s field, which includes six total men with personal bests under 2:05.
Last year, Tola broke the NYC Marathon course record in 2:04:58 and looks to become the first man since Geoffrey Mutai (2011/2013) to win back-to-back titles. Tola just broke the Olympic record on an arduous and hilly course in 2:06:26.
🥈 Belgium’s Bashir Abri, who claimed silver in Paris, will also race.
👀 The fastest personal best in the field is 2:03:00 held by 2022 New York City Marathon champion Evans Chebet, who withdrew from last year’s race and was unable to defend his title due to injury.
🇺🇸 The American stars are led by Conner Mantz (8th in the Olympic marathon in 2:08:12) and @_Clayton_Young_ (9th in the Olympic marathon in 2:08:44). Both will be making their NYC debuts.
Here’s the list of elite athletes entered with PBs under 2:12 ⬇️
✍🏻 NCAA Indoor Championship finalist @gary_martin20 of @UVATFCC has signed an NIL deal with @brooksrunning.
“After a few more conversations with the Brooks team, I knew that Brooks was the right fit. I couldn’t believe I was going to have the opportunity to represent a brand, much less the brand that was so important during my high school career. Three years after Brooks showed me that running could be way more than I thought it could be, they gave me another opportunity to use running to take me to new places. I’m thankful to be joining a brand that I believe in and that I know believes in me. I’m so happy to announce that I’m joining the Brooks team as an NIL athlete!”

It’s Elle’s world and we’re just living in it 🌎
In the USATF Indoor women’s 3000m final, Elle St. Pierre takes off after only 800m and never looks back, claiming the national title in 8:54.40 to make her second World Indoor team.
🗣️ “If you ask any professional who's run collegiately, they're like, “There's nothing like collegiate cross country.” And it really is true...I definitely wanted one more season just for the memories and the journey. I don't regret it at all. It was a great season. I love the girls on the team. We had a great time and got the threepeat, so I went out on a good note.”

✍🏻 @StanfordXCTF’s @juliettewhitt22 makes history as the first NCAA athletes to sign an NIL deal with @on_running
🗣️ “I'm super excited to work with them. I was excited about the NIL opportunity and the fact that we can brand ourselves and make money in college while not having to give up the NCAA experience. Especially because I've loved my first year and I wouldn't want to be done with it just yet. It’s just a cool experience to get to have.”
