We don’t always remember to download offline data for @flyovergeo. But when we do it makes the flight more interesting. We wrote about the handy tool a few years ago ago… #AvGeeks https://t.co/EA6dLIoL3B
Landing in SFO is stunning 💆🏼♀️
Someone tell me what the colored blocks are. Is this pollution run off? Is this normal nature things that humans put boundaries on? Tell me tell me
Whether the clouds are above you, below you, or right outside your window - you can learn about them with Flyover Country! Nice writeup @PressHerald https://t.co/fkbTkKzbBV
Sad I forgot about this @user47 @AirlineReporter piece until *after* the flight. App now downloaded for future use so I don't forget it again😅https://t.co/ykzf2viRtg
Nice to see this paper talking about @flyovergeo as an education tool! - Self-guided field trips allow flexibility in undergraduate student introductory field experiences. https://t.co/18NsXGMHpv
@rosicrane There is a wonderful app called Flyover Country available on both platforms. It works in airplane mode and relies upon GPS, you need to download the data first. But it more or less tells you what you're looking at. That & apps I can't do without Peak Finder & Peakvisor
@DrLimnology Do you know about the app called Flyover Country? Pre-download your flight route and whatever info you want to follow along in real time from your #windowseat using GPS, which stays on even in flight mode. Geology, geography, parks, landforms, etc.
This also why everyone NEEDS to download the app: "Flyover Country". It lets you download, for offline use, all of the geologic maps and Wikipedia articles about natural landforms within your flightpath! It is incredible!
@flyovergeo
@chriswerry @iangriffin @FlyAirNZ Funny you should mention this

@flyovergeo
absolute genius - I have used it on AirNZ Dun-Wgtn. Sadly takes a while to load, but works wonderfully
This is why I ALWAYS go for the window seats! I also try to figure out the exact flight path so I can be on the "mountain side" of the plane.
Also, check out the app "Flyover Country." You can download the geologic maps and all Wikipedia articles of landforms in your flightpath!
