I have many friends in the U.S. and Europe.

We all work in tech. High-paying jobs.

All of my US friends can afford a vacation in Europe once a year. No sweat.

None of my European friends can. Doing it once is a stretch. Once per year is out of the question.

Anecdotical evidence, I know, but lifestyles are very different.
