@311Toronto situation on Northcliffe blvd. After an hr of trying to clean the storm drain blocked by leaves and cars parking on top. Soon a lot of houses will have their basement submerged
@erinotoole@robertwakulat Like the article says, behind doesn’t mean not worth building. eVTOL gets here first, sure. But a four seater, 300kms radius, won’t move a corridor holding half the country. Air taxis suit thin routes trains can’t reach. Alto owns the dense ones. Different jobs, not competitors.
@erinotoole Let private capital prove it, but the noise and emissions still land on the city, and we lose any say. Meanwhile the $8.5B case is the province’s own, unaudited. Given their “deals” record, “trust us’”doesn’t cut it. And yes I do have questions about Alto too.
@erinotoole@tylermeredith Two schools of thought, both with real trade-offs. What I'd love is provinces cooperating, not dragging their feet to force the Feds to pay more. Feds, provinces, cities should pull together, instead it feels like everyone rowing against to squeeze out more. Have a great day!
@erinotoole@tylermeredith Agreed, that's the real issue, not the funding. Restricting home-based and small providers cut supply at the source and hurt shift workers most. You can't subsidize a spot that regulation won't let exist. Smart policy targets bottlenecks instead of revolutionizing every 3 years.
@erinotoole@tylermeredith Opinion, not gospel. Fair point on fairness, but it never shows how new financing creates one new spot. The shortage is about workers and space, not who gets the subsidy. Route money to parents in a supply-constrained market and providers just raise prices, like housing vouchers.
@BravoDavenport@cityoftoronto Every morning on Northcliffe Blvd, chaotic parking on sidewalks blocks school buses from safely dropping students at St. Claire school. Today there was another accident. Parking enforcement should be present in the morning.
