An underprivileged (aka “first-gen”) nobody trying to get to the other side... alive. Also, I have good pretrained models for Filipino ASR. Ask me about it.
Anyway, whisper right now is really doing well in Tagalog anyway but I guess freeloaders will be freeloaders and the Dunning-Kruger effect's phenomenon will continue.
A small reflection.
When I shared my Filipino/Tagalog ASR model for vosk 5 years ago, I did it with the hope of contributing something valuable to the community—especially because open-source Filipino speech recognition models back then (before whisper) was almost nonexistent.
2. A syntax error I intentionally included that's easy to solve from an error message—because, let’s be honest, some people just take without understanding or giving back. This incident proves my point.
@winterwoman112@hiragananinja@UnseenJapanSite it does matter, it’s malicious and should also be condemned. Whether or not the person deserves the backlash or not is a different matter
@emi64555@UnseenJapanSite The retweeted translation quoting “this is Japan…” and giving the idea as if it’s part of the response now snowballs into people attacking a strawman scenario
One Retraction
Lee comes out firing against Kwon in a Korean newspaper interview.
Kwon is no longer affiliated with Qcenter as of 4 months ago. And was not authorized to upload the 3 author paper. It will be retracted.
The 6 author paper is in peer review and will have corrections and updates.
Kwon was definitely at the MMC presentation today… but it’s unclear if Lee was.
Perhaps Kwon is intent on taking credit as much as possible and establishing rights.
The New Scientist HT Kim interview hence stands: they’re in peer review and trying to do the characterization right now.
The all important is it really a room temperature superconductor question remains unanswered.
Today might have seen the biggest physics discovery of my lifetime. I don't think people fully grasp the implications of an ambient temperature / pressure superconductor. Here's how it could totally change our lives.
