Not every part of Nigeria can grow wheat successfully.
Climate plays a major role in determining where wheat thrives, which is why wheat farming is concentrated mainly in Northern Nigeria.
Through it’s Wheat Development Programme, FMAN supports farmers with:
Training
Import support
Better farming practices
With improved seed varieties, stronger farmer support systems, and increased investment across the value chain,
Ismail’s journey reflects FMAN’s commitment to farmer empowerment, innovation, and sustainable wheat production in Nigeria.
We celebrate your impact and dedication, Ismail!
SWAT teams play a key role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and sustainable growth across the wheat value chain.
Together, FMAN and SWAT are creating a more resilient and efficient agricultural ecosystem for Nigerian farmers.

Building stronger farming communities, one partnership at a time
FMAN’s SWAT (Special Wheat Aggregation Teams) initiative is helping transform wheat farming by bringing support closer to farmers.
From farmer selection and training to input monitoring and recovery support,
Strengthening wheat production beyond borders.
FMAN recently hosted the WECAWheat/IRAD delegation from Cameroon in Kano to share insights on sustainable wheat value chain development, seed production, farmer support systems, and private-sector driven agriculture.
Nigeria currently imports the majority of the wheat it consumes, with billions spent annually to meet demand.
But this is not just a statistic, it is an opportunity.
An opportunity to:
* Strengthen local production
* Support farmers
* Build a more resilient food system
