Suddenly, there is prevalence of tweets and attention of global media and Individuals especially Americans to the killings of Christians in Nigeria.

I have retweeted a lot of them to generate more attention but that does not mean I am oblivious to the intent behind the sudden interest in the plight of persecuted Nigerian Christians.

While there are genuine interest in some quarters, the primary interest is political! May be not exactly political, but something about a campaign to shame the Left for accusing Israel of genocide in Palestine while keeping quiet about another scale of genocide in Nigeria.

It’s interesting because it is not that they are primarily interested in the suffering of Nigerian Christians or are actually willing to help, but their suffering fits an agenda to help re-direct the conversation.

Is the claim about Nigerian Christians being killed in their thousands true? Absolutely!
Even though they have other agendas, we are happy their agenda is also helping to bring light and awareness to challenges of Nigerian Christians. Paul highlighted such examples in the Bible;

“Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: the one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: but the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.”
Philippians 1:15-18 KJV

It’s a shame because the VP went to the UN to highlight the genocide in Palestine without addressing the Christian genocide in his country. Now that the attention is on us, I hope our Pastors can keep the momentum to demand urgent and long lasting actions from the government to protect religious freedom especially in the North.

In November 2022, while campaigning in Delta State, the then APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu, now the President, berated the other Presidential Candidate (Peter Obi), he was ashamed to call his name, saying "Na statistics we go chop all I want is to put food on the table of Nigerians”.

Now 2 years into his 4-year tenure, Nigeria is classified as one of the hungriest nations in the world with millions of Nigerians not knowing where their next meal will come from.

President Tinubu is now overfeeding Nigerians with wrong Statistics from wrong unemployment figures, wrong inflation figures, and now GDP rebasing, all to put a positive spin on our deteriorating economic and household conditions.

Governance is not a rocket science, it's not a gamble, like I have always reiterated, it requires sincerity of purpose, character, competence, capacity and compassion.

A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO
