Weeks ago myself & some friends hosted Dr. Duncan Money @mininghistory, an historian specializing in Zambian mining. Duncan has so much depth about the sector & its history which dates back many centuries before colonialism. We must all take an interest in understanding mining, it’s not only the goose that lay our golden egg, we still have lots of minerals yet to be mined #Zambia
@FMwenge@mininghistory Alongside Miles Larmer, Duncan is the foremost historian on Zambia’s mining industry today. Any govt not captured by mining corporations would have sought his expertise on how best to extract increased revenue from mining as opposed to contracting more debt through a $600m loan!
Recall the boy from Chifunabuli I fought to get to UNZA? Boy is only 20, hasn’t even written a first exam & he is drinking alcohol. In my upcoming #nodignityinpoverty book there’s a chapter on the struggles & pain of trying to help your own escape poverty. He’s let me down 😐😐
@Intembauzyo Boy just came from high school into Uni. Hasn’t even written a test 1. Even if we were not to be harsh how does someone start drinking in term 1?
He was attacked in view of the police officers.. he had to defend himself while they watched and did nothing. Arresting him for Assault when he is the victim is absurd.
Sometimes I think about Ethiopian Airlines. I’ve no details about profitability & operational issues: but ET employs at large scale, pilots, air hostesses, air security, engineers - many appear Ethiopians. And the auxiliary businesses around Bole airport. What does it take?
