🇿🇲 Zambia just told the US: No.
$1 billion in health aid.
An April 30 deadline.
Repeated "outreach" from Washington.
Zambia said nothing. Signed nothing. Didn't flinch.
And now the US is complaining to Reuters.
Here's what they won't tell you:
That billion comes with conditions.
Conditions on policy. Conditions on procurement. Conditions on who gets to decide what Zambian health looks like.
Zambia remembered what happened to other countries that took the check without reading the fine print.
No more.
Africa is no longer a clinic where the West writes the prescription and the patient just opens their mouth.
Congratulations, Zambia.
That's not defiance. That's sovereignty.
🇳🇦 BREAKING: Namibia just paid off its entire IMF debt. Zero balance. $23.8 million repaid. No new loans. No new conditions. Freedom.
While other nations drown in IMF austerity, Namibia walked out. No more structural adjustment. No more neoliberal lectures. No more foreign control over economic policy.
This is what sovereignty looks like. Paying your debts. Refusing new ones. Charting your own path.
Namibia is free. Other African nations should take notes.
Question for the timeline: Which African country should be next to tell the IMF goodbye?
Disappointment is not a bad thing. When something we dislike happens, we think it’s a mistake. We get upset. We forget that the Almighty is in control. He sees things we don’t. The bigger picture will emerge soon and we will thank Him for His Infinite Wisdom.
You often hear people ask what if things don’t work out? What they mean is, if things don’t happen the way they planned it. They forget that the Almighty is the best planner. He will make things happen in the best possible way for us. Better than what we wanted. Trust Him.
Don’t judge people based on what you heard about them. Preconceived ideas are not useful. Give everyone a chance. Hear them out. Wouldn’t you like to be given that chance if you were in their shoes? Be fair.
Don’t be disappointed if your deeds go unappreciated & unrewarded in this world. Don’t worry. It’s the nature of man to forget. Constantly remind yourself that people will forget & overlook. The Almighty doesn’t. He will reward you for all that you’ve done & your patience!
The sooner you realize that you cannot control other people, the easier your life becomes. You can’t force them to do what they don’t want to do. The only person you can control is you. So don’t let their behavior upset you. Take it in perspective. Don’t get hurt!
@KKagasheki I always tell my students to concentrate on attacking the argument and not the person.
When you see someone using slander during a debate, then you know who lost the debate.
Unfortunately, now days audiences may love those attacks more than the message of the debate...
May the example of so many doctors and healthcare workers who have risked their life to the point of losing it due to the #pandemic move us to feeling truly grateful for how generously, and sometimes heroically, they carry out their profession.
Remember when Municipal Public Schools were some of the most sought after and well performing primary schools?! They had good facilities all paid for by our taxes. Now most are run-down. We cannot continue to tout privatization as a solution
