If I could, I'd abolish every single law limiting firearms. The 2A should be the law of the entire United States, and remain inviolate. Except, I can't. Other people, elected and appointed to write, interpret, and enforce laws, have done the mental and verbal gymnastics to infringe upon a guaranteed civil right.
So, if I'm a law-abiding gun owner, I have to comply with federal and State laws until they change. Breaking a concealed carry restriction, even if you're not otherwise engaged in criminal activity is illegal. Just as crossing the border, even if they aren't otherwise engaged in criminal activity, is illegal.
I think Alex Pretti had every right to have his gun with him. However, he knew from him 8 hour CCW training, that he was legally required to keep ID and his permit on him. The fact that he deliberately did broke that law tells me that he was not a "peaceful observer".
The point is not whether the law is justified, the point is that Pretti KNEW he was breaking it and did it anyway. If that helps exonerate the agents for the shooting, I'm fine with it.
@WesternLensman@pasqueflower19 ...in a manner of speaking, yes: We only want living, legal citizens to vote one time.
All other "groups" will find it hard to vote.
@CynicalPublius Because they don't care about the good of the nation, only the good of their party.
Anything good for America will be resisted to the fullest extent of their ability. I'm actually kind of shocked Trump didn't see all of this coming.
@WallStreetMav Mostly, but they cut a bunch out and the ending was 180⁰ from Herbert's intent. There's a 7+ hour version of the original out there somewhere that's great, but clear your whole day.
@EricLDaugh@xformed Well @LeaderJohnThune it's your own fault. You won't censure them for fomenting violence. You won't investigate some pretty glaring financial ethics breaches. Hell, you won't even submit legislation they don't like.
If the clown shoes fit...
@Dave_Parke@stevensongs Yup. No normal person wants to be responsible for hundreds of millions of people. Hence, it's always power seekers with egos they can't even wash behind. Some have some decency, but I don't think I'd ever trust anyone seeking office.
@BRICSinfo It's always wild to see the mouthpieces like Baghdad Bob denying reality. Like they think everyone watches their news and nothing else. I suppose inside their borders that's true. Still, it's hysterical.
Hi, Navy veteran here: This is completely and utterly incorrect.
First, international maritime laws are actually negotiated treaties. When violated they are cassus belli (cause for war). It would be a bit redundant for Iran to declare war at the moment.
Secondly, submarines have never been required to take prisoners. They don't have the room or the trained personnel to do so.
Thirdly, it doesn't matter that they were training. They are an armed military asset of a foreign enemy and can be engaged anywhere in the world that isn't inside a neutral border.
And what do Nazis have to do with it? 😂 There's nothing uniquely "Nazi" about any part of this situation.
Doesn't matter, I guess. You won't read this far down.
@TheCinesthetic In Alien (1979), Ripley was originally meant to be male, but Scott saw Sigourney Weaver and changed his mind. The character was not rewritten and almost no dialogue was changed.
The result was probably the most believable and well liked female hero character ever written.
