My posts are not arguing for Peter × Gwen. Latour and Rodriguez chose (perhaps unconsciously) to honor the woman who started it all by creating a symbolic pair: no overlapping or inverted palettes, but counterparts, with each character's dominant colors completing the other's.

It's 1973. Mary Jane appeared years prior, and fans felt she was Peter's match. The writers just couldn't get fans to like Gwen. Conway, Thomas, and Lee chose that Gwen would die that year. I think it's beautiful, then, that Spider-Gwen's colors enrich and complete Spider-Man's.
