In all my life I have not seen anything like this storm we just had. We got about 5-6 inches of sleet/ice pellets then 1/4” freezing rain on top. The rain melted the sleet enough to bind it together and create about 4 inch thick ice covering the entire ground everywhere. It’s so thick the livestock don’t break through and literally slide everywhere. Several areas vehicles dont break through and have even had a few areas the tractors dont even crack it. We have had 2 groups of cattle and 4 groups of sheep stranded and refused to move because of the slipping. We have cut roads to feed and water sources for all of them, but a bigger issue I’m noticing is the harsh reality of the effects on wildlife. Keep in mind it’s not flat here so if you slip on a hill you’re going full board to the bottom.
