THREE PEOPLE WERE ALLEGEDLY EXECUTED AT THEIR WORKPLACE—and most of America’s national media apparently could not be bothered to tell you.

Not one victim. Three.

Nansi Fuentes Zambrano, 25.
Dena Silcox, 56.
Adam Wilwerding, 43.

Police say Tsegaab Binessu walked into the leasing office of his St. Paul apartment complex following a dispute over a $65-a-month parking contract and methodically opened fire. Surveillance footage allegedly captured him shooting Wilwerding six times and Silcox six times.

Fuentes Zambrano was reportedly shot as she desperately tried to escape through a window. Investigators recovered 21 shell casings.

This was not merely “a shooting.” It was not an argument in which somebody lost control for one terrible second. Authorities describe three deliberate, execution-style killings—three separate murder charges, three lives erased and three families shattered.

The complaint also says Binessu complained that he had been treated unfairly because he was Black and an immigrant and expressed hatred for “the American system.” Whether prosecutors ultimately prove that racial grievance motivated these killings remains to be seen—but apparently even that allegation was not enough to make this massacre nationally newsworthy.

Where were the breathless national broadcasts?

Where were the special panels examining hatred, grievance and radicalization?

Where were the reporters demanding to know how three innocent employees could allegedly be executed over a parking-space contract?

For most of the national press: silence.

Local Minnesota journalists covered it. A handful of national publications covered it. But many of the enormous media institutions that can turn one crime into a weeklong national reckoning appear to have treated three murdered Americans as a regional footnote.

And that is the scandal behind the massacre.

The media do not merely report the national conversation. They manufacture it by deciding which victims matter, which criminals fit the preferred narrative and which inconvenient atrocities disappear beneath the fold.

When a crime can be used to lecture America, it receives wall-to-wall coverage before the facts are even known.

When the facts threaten the approved storyline, suddenly the media discover caution, nuance and “local-news judgment.”

Three human beings were allegedly executed while doing their jobs. Their names should be known. Their families deserve attention. The public deserves the full truth.

Journalism that selectively recognizes victims is not journalism. It is propaganda through omission.

Puerto Rico Mayors’ Desperate Effort to Keep Stealing American Tax Dollars
On June 25, I sent a letter to the inspectors general of DHS, HUD, and DOE warning that several mayors in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico are diverting federal reconstruction dollars away from critical infrastructure projects through illegal construction excise taxes.
Now, 12 of these mayors are on a last-minute, desperate lobbying trip to Washington to try and rescue their illegal cash grab from American taxpayers.
As background, these mayors are currently taxing the federal government anywhere from five to ten percent of a federal project’s total cost, diminishing the value of recovery funds, raising the cost of reconstruction, and worst of all, defrauding federal taxpayers.
Take the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Río Puerto Nuevo Flood Risk Management Project in San Juan as an example. The Corps recently awarded a $1 billion contract to widen a vital channel and strengthen flood protection for the capital city. But under Puerto Rico’s illegal municipal tax and steal scheme, 10 percent of the project will be diverted from flood protection and into local government coffers.
Every dollar taken by San Juan on this project is one less dollar that can go toward saving lives during a flood. And the same rule applies to every federal project on the island.
The bipartisan Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico (FOMB) has repeatedly warned this tax is an impediment to Puerto Rico’s recovery and violates PROMESA and is against the Fiscal Plan. Yet, the FOMB has waffled on taking the Commonwealth or these Mayors to Federal Court. Why? This is common sense.
We at Frontiers of Freedom agree with these responsible federal authorities. Taxpayer funded recovery dollars are meant to rebuild Puerto Rico, not bankroll their local coffers.
We encourage the Trump administration to address these concerns with the mayors and to defend mainland taxpayers against waste, fraud, and abuse.

That means higher costs, slower rebuilding, and a bigger burden on American taxpayers.
